Welcome to the Chocolate Chip Cookie 50K Trail Run. We are excited to share Riverside State Park in Spokane. The course has awesome views of the surrounding mountains, Spokane River valley, the CCC Suspension Bridge, and haystack rocks nearby. Runners will cover a varied terrain, with some short hills, rocks to tumble on, forest air to breathe, and open prairie. The course includes single and double track trail, forest service roads, and even a little gravel and pavement thrown in.
7:00-8:00 am - Check-in / Drop Bags
8:00 am - Start
3:00 pm - Cut-off at Equestrian Area Aid Station, mile 21.8
5:30 pm - Finish (9 1/2 hour time limit)
6:00 pm - State Park Closes for Day Use
The course is two loops with an approximate total of 2,470 feet of elevation gain. The initial 21.87 mile loop, which we call the “Large Cookie”, includes some forested and open field running, with a short climb to Pine Bluff, and an aid station at mile 11.49. After Carlson Road, runners will follow a rolling river trail and return to the equestrian arena, the second aid station and completion of the initial loop. Runners will then complete what we affectionately call the “Small Cookie”, a 9.3 mile loop. Runners will follow the same route of the Large Cookie, but at about mile 3.5 or so runners will take Trail 10, a bypass trail, descending some switchbacks to hook up with Trail 25 again which will take them to the finish at 31.17 miles. Drop bags will be taken to the Carlson Road aid station and are also possible at the equestrian area aid station (and finish). We hope trail runners will come to a low key, family friendly, fall run in Spokane. There is easy access to I-90 and the city of Spokane. Most important, it is an opportunity to have a little fun doing what we all love to do; RUN TRAILS, and of course, eat homemade chocolate chip cookies!
