You’re invited to participate in the 2018 UpHill 5K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, August 18th. The race will begin and end at Freedom Corner in the Historic Hill District. This year’s race embodies the theme “Faith, Hope & Love.” As we participate in this 5K run/1 Mile fun walk to improve our health, participants of all ages will be inspired, encouraged, and embraced!
- 6:45 AM: Registration begins
- 7:30 AM: Welcome – Presentation of the Flags & Singing of the National Anthem
- 8:00 AM: UpHill 5K Run/Walk begins
Award Ceremony will be held immediately following the conclusion of the race at Freedom Corner
The UpHill 5k was created to increase the Health and well-being of African-Americans in the City of Pittsburgh. In addition, the UpHill 5k is s part of a deeply rooted legacy to bring awareness to health disparities that exist in the Hill District and beyond. The UpHill 5k is a race like no other. Running along the historic Centre Avenue will enable you to see some of the historical landmarks as well as witness the amazing physical changes that have taken place. The transformation of this historic neighborhood is a sight to see. Whether you are an experienced runner or a beginner just coming out to walk, this race has something for everyone! All are welcome to attend and participate. Top 3 Male, Top 3 Female, and Top 3 youth under 15 runners will receive Medals!
